Getting in Touch
(videotape n°1)
Can medical reasons for obstetrical ultrasound meet parental desire? The ultrasound reveals the presence of
the child and consequently makes maternity obvious, risking a fantasy of intrusion, and paternity, risking a
reorganization constiting in the new triangulation. The image acquires meaning only through the discourse of
the ultrasound tester, who either allows or goes against maternal reverie. The clinical illustration of a suspected
malformation is presented.
