Review of the Press

The multimedia collection At the Dawn of Life is an extraordinary challenge, the one to put within the
reach of all the professionals of infancy, French or foreign, the present state of the work of the "French
school of paedopsychiatry". One could object that the second edition of the Traité de Psychiatrie
de l'Enfant et de l'Adolescent, PUF (Treatise of Psychiatry of the Child and Adolescent) already
represents a synthesis of the present state of this discipline. It would be forgetting the deeply innovative
character of the chosen media that associates written text, videotapes and CD-Rom. It is thus a new tool , like
there was no other to our knowledge. [.]
Indeed the professionals of the early infancy that are not psychiatrists will certainly not be able to use
right away this teaching which concepts need prerequired analytical elements. But they will be led to it by
the possibility to use the book and the extremely precious possibility to be able to watch again and again in
class or for themselves this or that passage of each videotape.
The training or experimented psychiatrists that are interested in baby psychopathology will find an extraordinarily
lively process such as the possibility to think, in The Sacred Moment , with colleagues that are following the
evolution of the consultation of this quasi paradigmatical case as if they were in a working party animated
by S. Lebovici.
In this period when paedopsychiatry is more and more invaded by reductive visions, the collection At the Dawn
of Life makes all the professionals of early infancy want to approach the extraordinary corpus of the French
school of baby psychopathology and paedopsychiatry. This is good news. »
